The World’s Smallest Passive Sensor showcased at Advanced Engineering 2024: RVmagnetics MicroWires

RVmagnetics, a.s., the sole manufacturer of the smallest passive sensors of physical quantities in the world, is excited to announce their participation in the Advanced Engineering 2024 event in Birmingham, UK.

The company will be showcasing its revolutionary Glass-Coated MicroWire sensors, known for their unparalleled accuracy and reliability, at stand R142 and at a presentation by Vladimir Marhefka in the Advanced Materials & Technologies Forum.

The Glass-Coated MicroWire sensors, developed by RVmagnetics, consist of ultra-thin iron wires—only a few micrones in diameter—encased in a protective layer of glass insulation. These sensors, which function without the need for physical contact, provide precise measurements by detecting changes in magnetic fields to assess parameters such as strain/compression, temperature, position, vibration, etc.

RVmagnetics’ MicroWires, along with their innovative contactless sensing systems, offer invaluable insights into various material properties. They are capable of monitoring critical factors such as bending, shock, torque, delamination of layers, resin hardening, resin arrival, temperature during heat-treatment and other hard-to-access physical spaces. This technology is already making its name across industries like automotive, aerospace, aviation & defence, energy, etc.

One of the standout features of these sensors is their sensitivity, coupled with the durability in harsh chemical environments, provided by their glass coating, which includes shielding them from environmental challenges such as humidity and corrosive conditions. These MicroWires can be embedded within materials without altering their design, enabling the wireless transmission of internal physical data – offering a contactless solution for monitoring both the manufacturing process and the structural integrity of materials throughout their lifecycle.

The Glass-Coated MicroWire sensors represent a significant advancement in magnetic sensing technology, particularly within the composite industry. RVmagnetics is eager to demonstrate the capabilities of these sensors, along with their comprehensive Demonstration Kit, at AE24.
