Located in Manchester, EDM Ltd is a specialist engineering business offering test rig design and manufacture, machined and composite aircraft and engine parts, synthetic simulation and training devices including submarine, fast jet, helicopter, armoured fighting vehicles and both manned and unmanned aircraft.
We provide engineering turnkey project design and manufacture that releases customer in house resources. Examples being:
• Multiple high precision parts for wind tunnel testing (Hard metal 5 axis
machining)
• First prototype cockpit used for initial Pilot MMI and aero handling testing (build
and systems integration).
• Utilities Management System/Flight Control (UMS/FCS) Avionics Test Rig (Rig
design and systems integration).
• High Speed Ejection Seat Test Sled Cockpit – used at Langford Lodge in 2022
(EDM designed and built to BAE and Martin Baker requirements).
• 10m long air intake duct – used in engine ground testing at Rolls Royce (5 Axis
machining and complex mechanical assembly of composite and metallic parts to
current Typhoon standards).
• FCS Hydraulic System Rigs.
• ECS Test Rigs.
EDM designs and integrates mechanical and electrical systems. Our products include military synthetic maintenance training equipment and full mission simulators as well as commercial aircraft crew training simulators.
